The Links at Challedon recently completed a major renovation project focused on improving course playability, turf quality, and long-term durability across several key areas of the golf course. The work was completed over a two-week period from August 4 to August 18 and included tee renovations, fairway drainage improvements, bunker repair, sod work, and several additional repairs caused by extreme weather during the project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A Better Tee Experience Across the Course<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

One of the biggest pieces of the renovation was upgrading teeing surfaces throughout the golf course. Several tees were rebuilt by removing old soil, adding a new 4-inch tee mix of sand, soil, and compost, regrading the surface, and installing Bermudagrass sod.<\/p>

For golfers, this means more level, consistent tee boxes and improved footing before each shot. The par-three tee areas on holes #5, #7, and #12 received especially meaningful upgrades, with work done to level and enlarge the teeing surfaces.<\/p>

The course now has 13 additional Bermudagrass tees, which should perform better during the heat of summer. Hole #1<\/strong><\/p>

Hole #1 received several important updates aimed at improving both playability and appearance. The Gold tee was rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass.<\/p>

At the beginning of the fairway, Perennial Ryegrass sod was removed and reused in other areas of the course. That area was then resodded with Fescue rough sod.<\/p>

The middle of the #1 fairway was regraded to improve drainage and resodded with Ryegrass. This area had been a playability and visual concern for many years, so the renovation should make a noticeable difference for golfers starting their round.<\/p>

The old fairway bunker site was also regraded, topped with soil, and resodded with Fescue rough sod.<\/p>

Hole #4<\/strong><\/p>

The greenside bunker on Hole #4 was repaired after flooding caused a washout. The bunker was regraded, a concrete floor was installed, and the edges were resodded.<\/p>

This approach is designed to help prevent future washouts and create a more durable bunker base during heavy rain events. For golfers, the goal is a more consistent bunker condition and fewer disruptions after storms.<\/p>

Hole #5<\/strong><\/p>

The Gold tee on Hole #5 was rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass. As one of the par-three tee areas included in the project, the improvements should provide a more level and reliable teeing surface.<\/p>

Hole #6<\/strong><\/p>

The Gold tee on Hole #6 was rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass, improving turf durability and teeing surface consistency.<\/p>

Hole #7<\/strong><\/p>

The Black, Gold, and Jade tees on Hole #7 were rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass. The Silver tee was also stripped, regraded, and resodded with Bermudagrass.<\/p>

Additional work was completed near the cart path edge, helping clean up heavily used areas and improve overall presentation around the hole.<\/p>

Hole #8<\/strong><\/p>

The Black, Gold, and Jade tees on Hole #8 were rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass. The tee area also required additional attention after extreme heat and flooding caused turf loss during the project.<\/p>

Hole #12<\/strong><\/p>

The Black, Gold, and Jade tees on Hole #12 were rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass. As another par-three tee complex, the leveling and enlargement work should be a strong upgrade for golfers.<\/p>

Hole #15<\/strong><\/p>

The #15 approach was repaired and resodded after heat and rain damage. Work was also completed along the cart path edge and maintenance cut-through to improve damaged or worn areas.<\/p>

Hole #16<\/strong><\/p>

The Black, Gold, and Jade tees on Hole #16 were rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass, creating a stronger and more consistent teeing surface.<\/p>

Hole #17<\/strong><\/p>

The Black, Gold, and Jade tees on Hole #17 were rebuilt with new tee mix, regraded, and sodded with Bermudagrass, helping improve long-term summer performance and overall tee quality.<\/p>

Hole #18<\/strong><\/p>

A major goal of the project was to improve how the course holds up during challenging summer weather. The new Bermudagrass tees should be more resilient in heat, especially compared to cool-season turf during stretches of high temperatures and humidity.<\/p>

The renovation also addressed drainage and washout concerns in areas that have been affected by heavy rain. The original project included 11 tee renovations and the regrading of the #1 fairway. As weather-related damage occurred and additional improvement opportunities were identified, the project expanded to include more tee work, bunker reconstruction, approach repair, cart path edge repair, and sod replacement.<\/p>
